Late autumn has arrived- that post-colorful time when earth tones prepare for winter’s reign. There’s still some green left, in such plants as young Burdock and Garlic, and berries provide color, but the writing is on the wall. Frost has withered many a wildflower, though they still stand, seeds often evident. Many trees are bare, yet brown Oak leaves can be seen, and Beech leaves are fading to tan. This year’s growing season is drawing to an end, and autumn is running its course.

It still beautiful though, isn’t it? I love living all four seasons.
You and me both- the turning of the seasons inspired this blog 🙂
I enjoy very much seeing what late autumn is like in your area!
Thanks montucky! Totally different here than in Montana, I realize! 🙂
I love this time of year; the photos are wonderful! I especially love the seedhead shots with the light coming through them.
Thanks Lynn- I like the seeds too and look for them- they’re the point of all of that brown 🙂
Very nice shots!
Many thanks!
Just when I was thinking that late fall was brown and boring, you made it look good!
It takes a bit of work to do that, but I’m a sucker for shots of the sun 😉
Nice series. I love all the seed heads and pods found in late autumn. They are just as beautiful as the blossoms.
I totally agree, Pat!
Always enjoy my visit to your neck of the woods. Wonderful pictures.
Many thanks, John!
My husband and I just got back from a walk and we’re also really enjoying the pods and seed heads. I love the transitions of the seasons. Thanks for sharing!
There’s something special about every season, every month, really, isn’t there?
It really does look like autumn’s end there. I’m not ready!
I hear you Patti!
I think New Hampshire and Ohio have finally caught up with each other-that’s just about what it looks like here.
All good things must come to an end, Gardener 🙂 Still though, there’s some green left out there- the next stop I guess is the near-absence of green…
Hi Seasons, Our areas of the country seem quite similar in terms of weather, geography, and wildlife. Same for flora of various types. Great series of pictures! have a truly nice Tuesday tomorrow!
Thanks, wildlifewatcher! Too bad autumn doesn’t last longer!
Lovely woodland shots – you’ve captured the beauty in dead seedheads and bare trees.
Thanks Jo- there’s some nice wooded areas around where I like to hike!
Sometimes it’s difficult to find natural beauty near the end of this season, but you’ve managed to find so much of it in your photos. I especially love 18 and 33!
Those are 2 I like a lot as well, Barbara!
Beautiful, love these colors!
A wonderful time of year, Ellen!
I love this time of year. The colors – and in some cases lack thereof – are so rich and earthy. You almost forget how lush and green it all was just weeks ago. You also forget how flat and gray it is about to become – but then we have our photos to soothe us, right?
Late autumn is indeed an under-appreciated season 🙂
