Watching the Seasons Flow.

May 6, 2011

Welcome to a bit of Ohio in the early 21st century.  This blog will be about observations of the natural world as well as random thoughts and the occasional odd topic.  I know that doesn’t narrow it down a lot, but that is on purpose.  You’ve been warned 🙂

I used to be a birdwatcher when I was a kid.  Now I’m not so young, but am picking up the hobby again.  Wildflowers also catch my eye these days- and they don’t fly off, making identification much easier.  Observing the natural world has a calming influence on me that I enjoy.  I hope I can pass on a bit of that here to you.

I’m a photographer in the amateur sense only.  Discussing nature is much easier with pictures, and I’m no artist, so that settles that.

My interests (besides the aforementioned natural world) include reading, history, and gaming.  I doubt I’ll write much at all about gaming, since I do that elsewhere, and I don’t want to overdo it.  Actually, I used to play too much, but not so often now.  I also used to work in a library, and I might write about that on occasion.

So, that pretty much sums it up for now!

I’m looking forward to future posts! I have several friends from Ohio, I’ve spent some time there, and my whole family has roots in the Midwest in general. It’s a beautiful part of the country.

I’ve heard Ohio described as ‘too hot & humid in the summer, too cold in the winter’. There’s some truth in that, but I love the state, and how the seasons change here.
