October 20, 2012

By the middle of October, autumn has arrived in all of its multicolored glory.  Here are some images from a recent hike I went on highlighting the changing colors of the leaves.  The woods I visited was of mixed Maple-Hickory-Oak trees…see if you can spot the Mulberry tree in there somewhere!

Always look forward to your posts. Just got back from a trip to northern Alabama to see the changing of the leaves. Not as much color as there, but more than Florida where things go from green to dead. Thanks, Tracy!

I always had the impression, because so many tourists come here in the fall, that New England was the only place in the country that had beautiful fall colors. Now, through blogs like yours, I’ve seen that great fall colors are virtually everywhere. And that leaves me wondering why so many tourists come to New England in the fall???

The autumn colors sure come through very brightly here in central Ohio- though sometimes that only lasts for a couple of weeks. It seems like it just gets going when most of the leaves fall off the trees! 🙂

What gorgeous colours – your photos are stunning. What are the large birds flying overhead?

Thanks Jo- that’s a flight of Canada Geese honking their way from pond to pond in the area 🙂

W.S…great photos…always love fall…the colors and the cool weather…we are starting to get some color here in AR too…we are a few weeks behind you…lots of green yet…our peak is the first part of November…but love the beauty of Ohio…thanks…

That’s great to hear, Jim! By the first part of November, central Ohio’s leaves are mostly on the ground, though some old brown oak leaves cling to their branches into winter. The cool weather is a relief after all of that heat this year!
